About Me

 Hello all,

My name is Nathan i have been working as a lifeguard, assistant swim coach, and swim instructor for 6 years and just recently got trained to certify lifeguards.  Over the summer I was was the pool manager at a country club.  I lived in Isreal for a short time and I plan on going back very soon. Hopefully in the future I can fully move my life to make Isreal my home.  I swam competitively until the end of high school and then I was introduced to the wonderful, fun, and exciting game of rugby.

I also enjoy hiking, I find it very relaxing and its always a good workout.
Recently I adopted a puppy from a rescue group,  she was left on the street at one month old in Tennessee, the group brought her to Rhode Island and I was so happy to give her a new home.   She is now 10 months old and is definitely still a handful.  But she is the only dog I've ever seen with an und -er bite.

The article Aria by Richard Rodriguez is an article that tell the story and depicts  the many difficulties that a child faced growing up in bilingual education faced.  Richard starts off by explaining how he felt that his native spanish dialect was unnatural in the society in which he now lived, and ow he was expected to know the more commonly known english language.  He states “ I consider Spanish to be a private language. Journal One   Finally the day has come, its my first day at my service learning placement.  Unlike many of my peers I choose my own school instead of getting placed in an unfamiliar and somewhat random school placement.  The school I am placed in is also the school in which I attended 4th and 5th grade and had the first really good school experiences in my life.   As I make my way to the placement i cant stop entertaining all the thoughts and questions going through my head like what if my kids are afraid to open up to me or what if i make a fool of myself in front of the class.  When I get to the school a wave of nostalgia washed over me .  I went through the typical visitor protocol at a school, I buzzed to gain access to the school, I signed in as a visitor and gave my ID to the office.  Next was the task of finding my class, the secretary that assisted me provided me with a very rapid and confusing route to get to my teachers class so I was ...

Kristof reaction

Nicholas Kristof uses his article U.S.A., Land of Limitations? to share his views on how America has turned from the “ land of opportunity’ to a country in which “ replicating the barriers and class gaps that drove them away.”.   Kristof’s main argument is that in present society social mobility, or intergenerational income elasticity, is becoming less fluid then it used to be.  This means that a child is more likely to stay in the same social class into which they were born than to be born into one social class then grow up and move up in social classes.  I agree with what Kristof is saying as I have also seen what he is describing if not a more difficult time as the article is from three years ago and a society has changed greatly since then and so has the earths population.  I think that the massive growth in population and advances in technology had an affect on the social mobility as the world has become more saturated and there is no longer a vast margin of o...
